Patrol Representative

The Patrol Representative is the highest-ranking administrative officer of the Sunrise Ski Patrol and serves as Chair of the Board of Directors. The highest-ranking administrative office of the SNSP shall be the Patrol Representative herein “Patrol Rep” , or “PR”). He or she shall be ultimately responsible to the general membership for all administrative activities of the SNSP and will be primarily responsible for representing the interests and concerns of the SNSP to the Patrol Director and ski area management. The Patrol Representative shall serve as Chairman of the Board of Directors for all regular and special meetings of the SNSP Board of Directors. In the event a member of the SNSP Board is temporarily unable to perform the functions of his/her position, the Patrol Representative shall take necessary steps to ensure those duties are properly handled so that SNSP affairs are handled smoothly. This may include the appointment of a replacement Board member(s) pro tempore by the Patrol Rep, with full voting rights, until such time as the elected board member notifies the Patrol Rep that he or she is now able to perform all of the functions of their position

The Patrol Representative may appoint such advisors as he/she may deem necessary and desirable. Such advisors will report to the Patrol Representative, will serve at his or her pleasure and will be accountable to the Patrol Representative. The Patrol Representative in turn, will be accountable for the actions of his/her appointed advisors. These advisors are not Board members and have no BOD votes. Finally, the Patrol Representative shall ensure that annual registration dues paid by the membership is forwarded to the appropriate body within the time frames established by the National Ski Patrol and FWD, and shall be responsible for notifying NSP that a patroller is a member in good standing on the roster of SNSP , or on the contrary, that the patroller has been removed. NSP is responsible for distributing membership cards to the general membership as soon as reasonably practicable. 

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Representing Sunrise Ski Patrol to Ski Area Management and the Patrol Director.
  • Leading all Board meetings.
  • Overseeing administrative operations of the patrol.
  • Ensuring Board responsibilities continue smoothly if an elected officer is temporarily unable to serve.
  • Appointing advisors as needed (advisors are non-voting).
  • Ensuring NSP dues and membership records are submitted accurately and on time.
  • Maintaining the official roster of members in good standing.
  • Assistant Patrol Representative
  • The Assistant Patrol Representative:
  • Serves on the Board of Directors.
  • Performs duties assigned by the Patrol Representative.
  • Acts as Patrol Representative whenever the Patrol Representative is absent.
  • Automatically succeeds to Patrol Representative if that office becomes vacant.
  • May appoint an Assistant Patrol Representative (with Board approval) until the position is filled through election.

Assistant Patrol Representative

The Assistant Patrol Representative shall serve on the Board and shall perform such duties as may be assigned by the Patrol Representative. Additionally, the Assistant Patrol Representative shall perform the duties of Patrol Representative in the absence of the Patrol Representative. In the event the Patrol Representative should resign or be removed from office, the Assistant Patrol Representative will succeed to the position of Patrol Representative, and the position of Assistant Patrol Representative may be filled by an appointee of the new Patrol Rep, and that appointed Assistant Patrol Rep will have full voting rights on the Board.

The presence of an appointee Assistant Patrol Rep will be considered as vacancy in that position, and the appointee can subsequently be filled replaced by election in accordance with the Board vacancy provisions of these policies and procedures.

Treasurer

The Treasurer serves as the chief financial officer of the patrol.
Responsibilities include:

  • Preparing an annual financial report for the membership.
  • Providing quarterly financial reports to the Board.
  • Submitting required financial reports to National Ski Patrol and Far West Division.
  • Paying approved patrol expenses.
  • Authorizing expenditures up to $450.
  • Presenting larger expenditures to the Board for approval.
  • Staffing the administrative table during the Fall Refresher.
  • Assisting with NSP registration and election eligibility.
